My Dad loves shepherd’s pie and I have grown up loving it as well as my siblings, and we often have it for dinner. I have tried a couple of recipes before, but this one by Catherine’s Plates on YouTube is one of my all-time favorites. It’s very easy to make and convenient to prepare because you don’t need to bake it in the oven, you can cook it in your crockpot instead!

This version of Shepherd’s pie tastes just as good as when it’s baked and you’ll probably prefer it served this way, it’s that yummy. You can also make your version of this by modifying the ingredients to your preference, adding in your favorite seasoning if you like, and a bit of spiciness is also welcome. If you have leftover ingredients in the fridge, then you can use them, too!

Ingredients for Crockpot Shepherd’s Pie:

  • 2 pounds of ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped

Step 1

Grease a 6-quart crockpot with nonstick cooking spray and set it aside. Place a large skillet on a stove over medium-high heat, then add the ground beef, and break it apart. Add the chopped onions, then give them a good stir, and cook them until the beef is browned and the onions are softened.

Step 2

Drain off the excess grease, then turn off the heat, and transfer them to the prepared crockpot. Add in the cream of mushroom soup, corn, peas & carrots, gravy mix, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and beef broth, then stir everything until combined, and spread the mixture evenly.

Step 3

Put the lid on the crockpot, then cook them on a high setting for about 2½ hours, and while waiting for them to cook prepare the mashed potatoes. Once done cooking, scoop the mashed potatoes over the top spreading them as evenly as possible, then sprinkle the shredded cheese all over the top.

Step 4

Put the lid back on the crockpot, you can place paper towels underneath the lid to prevent the cheese from having too much moisture. Let them cook for an additional 1 hour or until the cheese has melted and the potatoes are heated through, and then garnish them with parsley. Serve and enjoy!
