Ingredients for Creamed Corn:
- 2 (15 ounces) cans of corn, drained and rinsed
- 3 tbsp of unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp of white sugar brown
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1 tsp of salt
- ¼ tsp of ground black pepper
- ½ tsp of fresh or dried thyme, optional
- ½ tsp of fresh or dried rosemary, optional
- ½-1 cup of parmesan cheese
Cornstarch Mix (Slurry)
- 2 tbsp of cornstarch or 3 tbsp of all-purpose flour
- 1¼ cups of whole milk
How to Make Creamed Corn:
Step 1
Place a large skillet or cast-iron pan on a stove over medium heat, then heat it before adding the butter, and stir it around until melted. Add the corn kernels to the melted butter, then add in the sugar, heavy cream, salt, pepper, dried thyme, and dried rosemary.
Step 2
Stir everything to combine, then bring them to a simmer, and cook them for about 3 minutes. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add the milk and cornstarch or flour, then whisk them until combined, and pour it into the mixture in the pan.
Step 3
Stir them until combined, then cook them for about 5 to 7 minutes or until thickened and the corn is tender. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then remove it from heat, add the shredded parmesan cheese, and stir them until melted and incorporated. Serve and enjoy!
