I love Taco Bell’s Mexican pizza and I always make sure to order it every single time! That’s why I immediately got excited when I found this recipe by The Simple Way on YouTube, and the fact that I can actually make this at home just made this so much better.

Ingredients:

Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe

  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 2½ tsp cumin
  • 1¼ tsp salt
  • 1½ tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp ground coriander
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 cup water

*adjust seasonings to your liking if desired

Taco Pizza

  • Homemade or store-bought taco seasoning packet
  • 1.5 pounds lean ground beef
  • Yellow Onion, finely chopped, optional
  • Flour shells
  • Cheese, shredded
  • Refried beans
  • Enchilada sauce
  • Green onions
  • Tomatoes, diced
  • Sour cream, optional
  • Olives, optional

Directions:

Step 1

Place a pan on a stove over medium-high heat, then add the ground beef. Break and cook the beef until nice and brown, then add the finely chopped onion, as well as the taco seasoning mixture. If you’re using homemade, simply mix together all of the ingredients listed above. After adding the taco seasoning, give them a good stir until well combined and incorporated. Drain off the excess fat, then turn down the heat, and let it simmer for about 5 to 10 minutes before removing it from the heat.

Step 2

In a saucepan, heat up the refried beans, then cook the taco shells in hot oil over high heat making sure not to burn them. After the beans have been reheated and the taco shells are cooked, start assembling the Mexican pizza. Lay 1 taco shell on a flat surface, then spread over some refried beans, scoop, and add the meat mixture, followed by the enchilada sauce, and then sprinkle the cheese. Cover it with another taco shell, then spread some more enchilada sauce on top, sprinkle more cheese, and garnish with diced green onions and tomatoes. Place it in a preheated oven at 400 degrees and let it bake for about 10 minutes.
