Add 1.5 tablespoons of sugar to the yolks. Mix well using a whisk. Next, add 1/4 cup of vegetable oil, the rind of 1 orange, and 2.7 oz of lemon juice. Stir well.
Sift 3/4 cup of cake flour into the mixture to remove lumps. Gently whisk until well combined. Once done, evenly divide the batter into 2 portions.
In one of the portions, sift 1.5 tablespoons of cornstarch. Mix well then set aside. In the other batter, sift 1.5 tablespoons of cocoa powder and whisk until well incorporated. Set it aside as well.
Add one teaspoon of lemon juice to the egg whites. Whisk using a hand mixer or stand mixer. Gradually add the sugar while whisking the egg whites. Beat on medium speed until firm peaks.
Add the meringue into the two batters in equal amounts. Gently fold each batter.
Pour a little bit of the orange batter into an 8inch pan, then followed by the chocolate batter. Do it alternately until you use all two batters. Once done, thump the round pan to remove voids.
Place in the lower middle of the preheated oven at 160 degrees C or 320 degrees F for about 40 to 45 minutes. After baking, remove it from the oven and place it upside down while still on the pan. Let it cool completely. Once cooled, take off from the pan and transfer to a plate. Slice then serve. Enjoy!
