I’m all for trying out unique or strange combinations of food because most of the time they work so well together that you just want to ask yourself, “Why haven’t I tried this before?”. One of the best I’ve ever tried is this one by The Hillbilly Kitchen – Down Home Country Cooking on YouTube and I often make this at home whenever I can. The saltiness of the bacon just tastes so good with the sweetness of the chocolate and they complement each other so well that you just can’t have enough of them.
Step 1
Place the chocolate chips in a mixing bowl, then place it in the microwave, and heat it up for about 1 minute. After a minute, continue to heat the chocolate chips at 15 seconds intervals making sure to stir them well in between each interval.
Step 2
You can also place the bowl on top of another bowl with hot water after 1 minute of microwaving instead, then stir it around until melted before adding the coconut oil, shortening, or bacon grease. Continue stirring the chocolate and coconut oil together until there are no more lumps and is smooth.

Step 3
While preparing the chocolate mixture, bake the bacon until nice and crispy (400°F if the bacon is cut thickly and 350°F if the bacon is thinly cut), then allow them to cool down a bit before transferring them to a flat surface lined with a paper towel, and top them with more paper towels to drain off all the excess oil.
Step 4
Once all of the greases has been drained, allow the baked bacon strips to cool down completely, then dip each strip completely, halfway, or however you want until nicely covered, and then place them in a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Allow them to cool in the refrigerator until set, then serve, and enjoy!
