Meatloaf is a staple food that is present in almost every Southern household. This recipe by The Stay At Home Chef on YouTube however is not your ordinary meatloaf, because this one is filled with a delicious twist, cheese! Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of ground beef (85%)
  • 1 cup of bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp of dried basil
  • 1 tsp of dried oregano
  • 1 tsp of dried parsley
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • ½ tsp of black pepper
  • ½ cup of milk
  • 2 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
  • 8 ounces of fresh mozzarella, sliced

Glaze

  • 1 cup of ketchup
  • ¼ cup of brown sugar, tightly packed
  • 1 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp of red wine vinegar
  • 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
  • 1/8 tsp of salt
  • A pinch of cayenne pepper

Directions:

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, then lightly grease a glass baking dish with a nonstick cooking spray, and set it aside. In a large mixing bowl, add the ground beef, bread crumbs, basil, oregano, parsley, salt, pepper, milk, and Worcestershire sauce, then mix them knead them all together until well combined, and divide them in half. Shape one half of the meat into a roughly round shape, then place it at the bottom of the greased pan and place the mozzarella cheese slices down the center leaving about ½ inch around the sides.

Step 2

Shape the remaining half of the meat, then place it on top of the loaf in the baking dish, and seal their edges together. In another mixing bowl, add the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, red wine vinegar, garlic, salt, and cayenne pepper, then pour half of the glaze over the meatloaf, and bake it in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes. After 45 minutes of baking, remove it from the oven, then pour the remaining sauce over the loaf, and increase the temperature to 400 degrees. Bake it for an additional 15 minutes, then serve, and enjoy!
