I’ve always preferred baked donuts over fried ones because I love the crumbly and pillowy texture of baked ones, plus, they stay tasty even after storing them for a day! One of my favorite recipes for baked donuts is this one by Sugar Spun Run on YouTube, it’s super chocolatey and the glaze is so good that you’ll surely eat a lot. If you want to learn how then read the instructions down below now, and while you’re at it, watch the video tutorial for more details.
Donut
Glaze
Step 1
In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, sugars, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, then whisk them all together until combined, and set it aside. In a measuring cup, add the hot water and cocoa powder, then whisk them together until smooth and combined, and whisk in the melted butter until incorporated and shiny. Add the egg and vanilla extract, then give them a good whisk before adding the buttermilk, and continue to whisk until smooth.

Step 2
Pour this mixture into the dry mixture, then gently fold them together until just combined, add the chocolate chips, and continue to gently fold until just combined. Lightly but thoroughly grease a donut pan, then dust with flour or use a nonstick cooking spray, and transfer the donut batter into a piping bag. Start piping the batter onto the prepared pan, then place the donuts on the center rack of a preheated oven at 350°F or 175°C, and let them bake for about 10 to 12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted at the center comes out clean.
Step 3
Once done baking, allow the donuts to cool down for a few minutes, then unmold and place them on a wire cooling rack, and let them cool completely. While waiting for the donuts to cool down, prepare the glaze. Simply add the chocolate chips and coconut oil to a microwave-safe bowl, then heat them up at 25-second intervals while stirring in between each time. Once the chocolate and oil are melted and smooth, dip the smooth surface of each donut, then place them on the cooling rack, and let them set, you can also add sprinkles if you want. Serve and enjoy!
