Topping
Step 1
Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray, then place a layer of cubed bread evenly, and top it with a single layer of blueberries. Repeat the layers 2 more times with the bread at the top and the last layer and then set it aside.
Step 2
In a large measuring cup or bowl, add the milk, eggs, maple syrup, lemon zest, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg, then whisk everything until thoroughly combined, and pour it over the mixture evenly. Cover it and place in the refrigerator to chill for at least 2 hours up to overnight.
Step 3
Once ready to bake, preheat your oven to 350°F, then in a small bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, and cinnamon until uniform, and add the cubed butter. Toss and incorporate them until coarse crumbs and then sprinkle the mixture over the bread crumbs.
Step 4
Now, place it in the preheated oven and allow it to bake for about 35 to 45 minutes or until nice and golden brown. Once done baking, sprinkle some powdered sugar on top if desired, then serve immediately, and enjoy!
