Ingredients
For the first layer:
- stick of salted butter (melted)
- 1 1/2 cups of self-rising flour
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 1 3/4 tablespoons of cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup of whole milk
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla
For the top layers:
- 1 1/2 of sugar
- 1/2 cup of cocoa powder
- hot water

Instructions
Step 1:
Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees. Next, put a pot of water over heat and let it come to a boil. You need two and one-fourth cups of hot water. While waiting, pour the melted butter into your casserole.
Step 2:
In a mixing bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups of self-rising flour, 1 1/4 cups of sugar, and 1 3/4 tablespoons of cocoa powder. Mix until well combined.
Step 3:
Add 3/4 cup of whole milk and 2 teaspoons of vanilla to the dry ingredients and mix until well incorporated.
Step 4:
Evenly pour the chocolate mixture over the melted butter. Make sure not to stir it.
Step 5:
In another mixing bowl, combine 1 1/2 sugar and 1/2 cup cocoa powder. Mix until there are no lumps.
Step 6:
Sprinkle all across the top of the butter and chocolate mixture using a spoon. Try to do this as even as possible. You can spread it but make sure not to stir it!
Step 7:
Get the 2 1/2 cups of hot water and pour it slowly all around the cocoa-sugar mixture. Do not stir it. Let it sit for a couple of minutes.
Step 8:
Place in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes.
