Do you enjoy sewing flower patterns? I do! It’s just so relaxing and beautiful to look at. One of the recent designs that I tried is this easy and beginner-friendly flower quilt block by The Melody of Sewing. Isn’t this lovely? I made it in different colors that I really love, then sewn them together into a quilt. Read on or watch the video below for full instructions.

Get the plain 3 1/2″ square, and place it in the center. Add the colored 3 1/2″ squares on the sides, then fill the corners with the green 3 1/2″ squares.
Get all 20 pieces of 1 1/2″ squares and make a diagonal line from corner to corner for each one on the wrong side.
Get the 4 pieces of 1 1/2″ squares and place them on the corners of the center squares, right sides together. They should form a diamond in the center. Next, place the white 1 1/2″ squares on the outside corners of the colored squares and add a square to each side of those with the lines forming a triangle. See the photo below for reference.
Sew the small white and colored squares first directly on the lines. Once done, trim off the excess, then press them open.
Sew the rows together with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Press the seams of the first and third rows in the same direction and the middle in the opposite direction. Once done, sew the rows together with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Press it flat, then trim it into a 9 1.2″ square.
For the sashings, you need 2″ wide strips the same length as your block. Arrange the blocks together, then put the sashing in between each piece.
