Looking for a modern pattern? Here’s an easy 3D blockhead quilt block by Revelation Quilts. The half-square triangles form a shadow, making the three-dimensional look. At first glance, it may look hard to make, but trust me, it’s not. You will be amazed at how simple the steps are. My sewing friends were in awe when I showed the finished quilt to them. I had so much fun with this project – I suggest you try it too! Read on or watch the video below for full instructions.
Note: to make the quilt, you need 5 different colors of the colored squares

Get the 5″ black square and pair it with a 5″ background square, right sides together. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner. Sew a quarter inch away from the line on both sides. Next, cut directly on the line. Press toward the black side, and trim them into 4 1/2″ squares. Now you have two half-square triangles.
Arrange the blocks into a four-patch, as shown in the photo below. Sew them in rows first with a quarter of an inch seam allowance. Press towards the solid piece of fabric. Once done, sew the rows together with a quarter of an inch seam allowance. Make sure the seams nest up.
To make this quilt, you need four blocks across and five down. When arranging the blocks, just put one of each color down the side, then make diagonal rows of the same color. For the borders, use the same background fabric to make it look like the blocks are floating.
