Dollar Tree DIY Hanging Rope Shelf
I can’t believe it was so cheap to make these shelves. They look like they came right out of an expensive home decor section at Anthropologie. This DIY by Jay Munee DIY has me screaming! I’ve made so many rope shelves now, and they look so great all over my home.
Materials Needed For This DIY:
- Wall Art Plaques from the Dollar Tree
- E6000 Glue
- Binder Clips
- Small Screws
- Drill
- Book Rings
- Twine
- Painters Tape
- Paint
- Sandpaper
- Command Hooks
Directions:
Step One
Glue together two rectangular walls art plaques from the dollar tree. These function as your shelf. hen, Screw them together to be sure they stay together can hold up some weight.
Step Two
Mark the places for the holes on your shelf. You can make a stencil to do this on a piece of paper to make sure the holes are even. Finally, drill the holes in the corners of the shelf.
Step Three
Sand the top of the shelf down. Then, dust off the shelf and paint it.
Step Four
Take out your binder rings and wrap them in twine to cover the metal and give them a more boho look. Use a lighter to burn around the edges of the rings as well to get rid of any additional fuzzy pieces and make it look cleaner.

Step Five
Take 12 feet of rope and cut it in half. Fold each piece in half and then draw a line where you want the shelves to hang. It’s important that you get the lines even so the shelf will hang even.
Step Six
Put the rings you made in step four and put them on the rope at the fold. Thread the rope through the holes you made on your shelf. You can use a piece of tape to make sure the rope goes through the holes smoothly. stop pulling where you see the marking you made, then repeat on. the other side. Make a knot on the bottom of the shelf strings.

Step Seven
It’s time to hang the shelf up! Use heavy-duty command hooks or another hook to attach it to the wall.
