Have you ever wondered how to fold a dollar bill into an origami heart? Folding with Yvonne on Youtube gives us a really simple guide to do just that. The tutorial is clear and quick.

This project will take out the nostalgic childlike wonder in you. One person who tried the simple project said she put the dollar origami heart under her daughter’s pillow for her tooth fair while she slept! That’s so sweet. This is a nifty technique you have to learn. You’ll never know when you’ll need it.

Materials:

  • a single dollar bill

Directions

Put the bill on the table and smooth it out. Then fold the bill with the sides meeting perfectly. Open the folded bill again and make sure there’s a crease in the middle.  Then fold the other side of the bill to reach the middle crease. Fold the other side as well.

Make 2 diagonal folds from the bottom of the bill and make them meet in the middle. Then open the flap of the upper part of the bill and fold the edge of the bill facing you to meet the upper edge of the diagonal folds. The trick is to pinch the bill so you can fold it.

There is now an open flap after folding. The next step is to fold the sides in, forming small triangles. The folded bill will now look like a shape of a diamond.

Then fold the middle part of the open flap diagonally. From a diamond, the folded bill will now look like a heart!

Flip the heart right side up to show the heart shape.
