Hearts are so iconic on Valentine’s Day and there are so many fun, easy and cheap DIY Heart ideas on Youtube. I saw the greatest little cork heart DIY craft image on Instagram by: @onecharmingtreasure  and then I  found a tutorial on Youtube yesterday, it was complete serendipity. I couldn’t wait to use up some old corks I had been saving for projects, I couldn’t wait to get the kids around the family craft table and make this cute little heart. I first started by assembling my materials at the center of the craft table, I just needed:

Materials:

  • some recycled corks
  • 1 cardboard or wooden heart (wooden one from Michael’s Craft Store or cut one from sturdy cardboard)
  • and of course your trusty hot glue gun.

First, get your beautiful heart

This DIY Wine Cork Heart turned out cuter than I could even imagine and it was so easy, I ended up using all the wine corks that I had saved up for the first one I made and then went back to Michael’s Craft Store and got a few more packets of corks, which luckily they sell and some more blank wooden hearts and made 3 more for a beautiful grouping in my kitchen. My kids got home from school just as I had started my second heart and they were so excited, they completely took over the project, making five more. So not only did we have a nice grouping for the kitchen but we had enough so they could each give one to their Home Room Teacher as cute Valentine’s Day gifts.

Since I lover experiments, I’ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
