This oven mitt is made from a Walmart kitchen towel which is an inexpensive DIY sewing project by The Sewing Room Channel on YouTube. I love how she has a series on her channel that has another matching kitchen set to go along with this oven mitt such as a potholder and refrigerator hand towel. This can be made as a set to make for someone as a house warming gift or for any occasion. Also, you can buy any kind of kitchen towel, and she bought hers for 96 cents. There are many designs you can use for this DIY to match your kitchen for the holidays too.
First, start off by using a ruler to measure out the right size to cut out the design from your kitchen towel. Then, cut all of your other fabrics to the same size as the design. Layer the fabrics together with the back fabric on the bottom with the front side down, cotton batting, and front fabric.

Next, continue to watch The Sewing Room Channel tutorial on YouTube for full instructions and details. Stitch the bias tape with a 1/4″ seam all around the outer rim, and stop at the top center where the two ends would come together. Trim the excess binding off and finish off the oven mitt.
I think this is a great way to use inexpensive items and upgrade them to better and useful items around the house.
