I decided to sponsor a neighborhood sock puppet show for all the children in the neighborhood, all proceeds went to the local animal shelter and helped the community of our poor kitties and doggies in need. All the parents were on board and we decided to make our own puppets using this simple Youtube tutorial. We got all our materials free of charge from the local craft store who were happy to contribute any help they could to our little charity puppet show for the animals in our community. We all got together for one big craft day at our local church and put all our materials on a big table and gave everyone simple instructions.

Materials:
Socks
Hot Glue Guns
Hot Glue Sticks
Cardstock
Markers
Scissors
Cutters
Contact Cement
Foam Rubber
Polystyrene Spheres
Googly Eyes
Felt Strips (1cm x 15cm)
Small Pom-Poms
Directions:
Draw a circle onto cardstock with a marker and cut out.
Then turn your sock inside out and fold the circle in half and glue to the toe of your sock either using contact cement or your trusty hot glue gun.
Then you cut two semi circles out of foam and glue to your cardstock mouth you just glued on. Rember there is no right or wrong way to do DIY so your circles can be any size or shape you choose, that is the beauty of DIY!
Then cut your styrofoam ball in half and glue the felt strips around each half and glue you felt strips on with your trusty hot glue gun.
Then you cut a small slice off of the top of each to attain a smooth surface to attach the googly eyes then you attach those two eyes together then add to the sock then add a pom-pom for a cute nose.
Our puppet show was a screaming success and I’m pretty sure the adults had more fun than the kids!
