Ever heard of sock animals? We just learned how to make a sock dachshund dog over Thanksgiving break, and I am going to have an entire family of these adorable dachshund dogs come Christmas. So much fun to make, easy to do and they all turn out differently but super cute, this DIY sock dachshund uses a sock and polyfill stuffing and the results are incredible!
My children and I get very bored over the holidays and things can easily go haywire at a moment’s notice, so to keep everyone on track, I keep boxes of projects that I can pull out and put in the middle of the table and seat them quietly all round to focus their attention on their own creative spirit. I keep a few boxes of sock projects on hand and one of my favorites is the DIY Sock Dachshund Dog. This is such a cute, fun project, everyone from old to young love it. The original Rockford Red Heel Sock will work best for this project, but any socks will work.
I started by turning the sock inside out and making the dachshund’s little legs by stitching down their positions, then I cut in between my stitching and turned the sock right side out and started stuffing the dachshund’s body with dacron polyfilling.
Then I used my remaining sock to cut out the rest of my dachshund pattern.
Then I just continued to follow the easy instructions in this tutorial to sew stuff and add the dachshund’s remaining features.
This project is so cute and fun, I highly recommend it.
