I’m crazy over this darling tray! I think the handles Barbie DIY uses is perfect for this primitive rustic look. It has a Shabby Chic type of look, yet would look great in any setting! These are so multi-functional.
I always wanted a tray for serving food in bed on special occasions, but hadn’t really fallen in love with any of them until I saw this one! By the way, when it’s not in use, this looks great sitting on your bed with a book and a vase of flowers or a cute nik nak!
Reclaimed pallet wood works great to do this project…it will still give you that same awesome rustic effect.
I made one of these for my little sister this year. It took me under 30 minutes to build and makes a perfect gift or entertaining piece for the holidays! The best part of this project… the price! The cost of wood was under $4 and the handles I chose were under $4 for the pair. $8 total… Love it even more.
I decided to give my tray a distressed finish, the way Barbie does in her turorial. This is a super easy 2-step process that starts with wood stain. I stained the tray with wood stain.
After that was totally dry, I spray painted the entire thing with Rust-Oleum Heirloom White Spray Paint.
Now for the fun part… Once the spray paint was totally dry, I sanded through the white paint to reveal the stained wood under it.
Watch how Barbie DIY makes this cool tray in her step by step tutorial and make one of these to give as a great gift to someone special…they’ll love it!
