Kittens are always a bundle of joy in all shapes, sizes, and colors. For cat lovers, they are the best kind of babies. Make your own cute kitten with this DIY pompom animal tutorial by Creativity With Jhumi on YouTube. Carry it around or make it into a keychain to put a smile on other people’s faces when they see it.
Materials:
Directions:
Cut 3 inches horizontally through your cardboard.
Insert the white yarn between the cut areas and wrap it around the cardboard strip about 2 inches. Cut the white-colored yarn and add the yellow-colored yarn starting on the left side of your white yarn. Wrap the yellow yarn for about 1 inch and cut. Starting on the right side, add black yarn, wrap it around for about an inch, and cut. Leave a narrow space in the middle.
In the middle of your yellow and black yarn, start wrapping another layer of white yarn. Continue wrapping until the yellow and black yarn are covered. Insert the tail of the white yarn into the cardboard cut and tie it with the first tail of the white yarn. Take the yarn bundle off the cardboard and double knot it to secure it.
With your scissors, proceed to cut the loops of the bundle to make a pompom. Fluff and trim the pom-pom. Repeat the process and make two new pompoms without cutting the loops yet. Tie the two bundles securely with yarn. Then, cut the loops to make a bigger pompom.
Cut a small cardboard strip. Do the same process around the small cardboard strip to make small pompoms. Make three pompoms and stick them together with hot glue. Glue together the first pom-pom and the bigger pom-pom. Trim the small pompoms to make the cat’s tail and glue them on the bottom of the bigger pom.
Wrap a tiny layer of yellow yarn around the small cardboard strip to make the cat’s ears. Cut, and attach the yarn thread to the needles. Sew the bundle together to make a doughnut shape and trim the excess. Thread pink yarn through the needle and sew it onto the tiny yellow doughnut-shaped yarn bundle. Repeat the process but alternate the colors. Glue on the ears of the cat on the first pompom. Also, glue on two black beads for the eyes and a pink bead for the cat’s nose. Trim any excess yarn to perm the cat’s fur.
