My friend built an entire backyard office out of pallets, so when I saw this DIY on Youtube I had to tell him right away! He said get over here and we will make this because he wasn’t having a traditional tree for the house this year, but he wanted to do something fun for the neighbors to look at. So he had plenty of pallets, I was in charge of the marquee lights and craft paint we needed for the project. When I got over to my friend’s house he had all the tools laid out. A power Drill, Circular Saw, Pry Bar, Hammer, Wood Drill Bits, Measuring Tape, Chalk Line, Obe Pallet Per Tree, Paint, Paint Brushes, Sandpaper, Safety Glasses, C7 or C9 Christmas lights with removable bulbs. The best part about using pallets is the fact that they are usually free, you can find them by asking your local hardware store or grocery store if they have spares laying around they are usually happy to accommodate.
Then I traced a tree shape onto my pallet and then cut it out with a saw.
Then I drew circles where I wanted my lights to be placed the made the holes. You want the drill bit sizes hole cutter to be the exact same size as your chosen light socket casing.
Then we placed all our lights into the holes starting from the bottom.
When my friend and I were finished with our DIY Pallet Christmas Trees with marquee lights we place them throughout the yard using a heavy extension cord. These little wooden trees looked fabulous and I cannot recommend them enough to anyone who wants their yard to look like a million bucks, but only wishes to spend pennies!
