I love rag rugs and I’ve bought many throughout my life, but I have always wanted to learn to make one. I was so happy when I found this tutorial because it really proved to me that another item that I saw as extremely difficult and thought I could only buy bat a store could be made in my craft room with my own two hands. I wanted a primary-colored rainbow rug for my kitchen so I waited until the Symphony Cotton Broadcloth, the cheapest of quilting kinds of cotton, went on sale. I bought every color they had, it was only $1.00 a yard on sale so I bought more than I needed because I had that odd feeling that when I was through with this first rug, I was going to want to make another one. I started by laying all my fabric out and cutting it into strips as directed.
Then I got cracking, Two of my neighbors came over so I put them to work helping me braid, we worked tirelessly into the afternoon. We all love how this DIY no-sew rag rug did not require any glue. If you look at most o the DIY tutorials, they almost all call for glue, this one does not. You simply braid the braids back into the main body of the rug, so it has a much more professional look.
This project turned out so amazing! I was so grateful to my two friends for helping me, I donated all the extra Symphony Cotton fabric I had bought on sale at JoAnn’s, to them. We are making 2 more next week so they can have one in their kitchen as well. We vote yes to this project, it’s wonderful and looks amazing.
