If you don’t have some of these cool sea shells, you can always pick some up at Michaels…they’ve got everything! But, keep in mind that you can do this same project with what you have on hand. This tiara would look fabulous with old jewelry that has a lot of bling too.

She created this mermaid tiara from a plastic crown that she found at the dollar store, but you can also find higher end versions in the bridal section at Michael’s Craft supply or your local party shop.

The key ingredient for this project is metallic pipe cleaner, you can also pick this up at any craft store, and I have seen it at the dollar store on occasion as well.

The pipe cleaner will enable you to create a very strong bond with the hot glue so that your seashells will not come off while you dance, (or swim ) the night away.

Start by covering the entire surface area of the tiara with pipe cleaner, wrap it as tightly as you can, weaving it in, out, and around all the curves and then you will be ready to embellish your seashells.

She added rhinestone chain and vintage jewelry to her shells before hot gluing them on the tiara, she found that E6000 is the best adhesive for adding rhinestones to seashells however, Aileen’s tacky glue or other brands of jewelry glue will probably work  well also.

Once your seashells are all dolled up,  you are ready to  start attaching them with your hot glue gun. This project takes about an hour to complete and is pretty easy to make.

Watch how Debi does this in her step by step tutorial so you can get started making one of these too!
