Mermaid Blankets have been the rage…especially for Christmas presents this past Christmas! If you didn’t receive one, now you can make your own!

If you are experiencing winter weather in your part of the world now this is definitely a cool DIY blanket that might interest you!

It’s difficult to enjoy your favorite show or a good book on your sofa when the weather is too cold. This mermaid tail blanket is just perfect for for keeping your legs warm without having to crawl back to bed. Also, they’re nicer to see in the living room than a bed blanket.

Someone experienced with crocheting can make one mermaid tail in just about four days. Or, if you don’t know how to crochet, like me, then Corrine’s got a great idea, and it won’t take four days!

You can also make these for a DIY gift idea for friends or family to give as gifts, but you may want to opt for fleece, rather than get a blanket at the Thrift store, unless it looks fairly new.  Kids especially love this!

You have a lot of fabric options such as fleece, flannel or line your fabric you choose. Or you can do what Corrine, with Threadbanger, did and make it with knitted blankets or throws. I made one for my daughter with fleece, but I think it’s a great idea to pick up knitted blankets at a thrift store or recycle the ones that you already have.

Watch this step by step tutorial by Corrine so you can see how she makes hers!

Since I lover experiments, I’ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
