DIY Gathered Pouch

There are many pouch tutorials on YouTube, but this gathered pouch is unique. SewingTimes tutorial shows how simple and beginner-friendly it is to sew your own pouch that has a wide-open zipper mouth. This type of bag can be used for makeup, toiletries, or anything. She has some of the best pouch and bag DIYs out there because they are all different in its own ways. I love how this gathered pouch might look hard to make, but it’s easier when you watch the steps throughout the video. There are not a lot of steps, and it can easily be done in about 20 minutes or depending on how well you are with hand sewing.

Supplies:

• plain weave cotton outer fabric
• plain weave cotton outer lining
• fusible fleece
• zipper
• wide bias tape
• ruler
• marker
• needle and thread
• scissors
• iron

Directions:

First, start off by watching Sewingtimes tutorial on YouTube for the measurements from this gathered pouch bag. Then, cut out a round circle and place it on top of the outer fabric.

Next, iron on the round fusible fleece to the outer fabric. Then, place the outer lining fabric under the previous one and cut both fabrics out into a circular shape. Lay down the fabrics on opposite sides of each other and pin them together. Use a needle and thread method to sew around the edges.

Overall, this is a cute pouch that has a unique shape. I love the round bubble opening shape this pouch gives. Also, I would use this gathered pouch as a makeup bag. Plus, I think what attracts me to this pouch is the round bubble shape. Sewing projects are always fun because I love choosing and picking out fun and girly fabric designs.
