Have you seen the commercial Rod and Reel holders you can buy at the sporting goods store? Well, I bought a rod and reel holder for my brother for his birthday and it cost $80.00, he is a big fishing guy and I thought he would love it, which he did at first until he has installed it and found it impossible to get his rod and reels out. So I felt really bad and found this DIY Rod and Reel Holder idea on Youtube and decided we could make one together, he thought it was a great idea but insisted he keep the one I bought him, I know he was just being nice, lol. So I got our materials together.
Materials Needed:
- 1 x 4 inch pine boards (42 inches)
- Jig Saw
- Drill with 2 inch cup bit sandpaper
- Hand Sander
- Clear Coat or Stain (for the finish)
- C-Clamp
- Tape Measure
Directions:
First cut and clamp your one by four’s to make sure they are completely even and then mark your holes to be four inches apart and drill.
Then unclamp your boards and drill/ cut your larger holes in the bottom board (4 inches apart)
Then mark and cut your angles where the rod fits in (you can do this by eyeballing it and making the groove where the rods fit about 1 inch).
Watch the video for the complete tutorial of how to put together, sand, apply stain or Clear Coat and mount on the wall or ceiling. My brother ended up loving this one way more than the $80.00 one and the DIY version only cost $25.00!
