Turn your old trash bin into a fancy DIY planter through this clever tutorial by Hometalk on YouTube! You only need a few materials and some basic craft tools, you can even substitute some of it with what you have available, just let your imagination and creativity take over. But before you get started on this project, read the instructions below, and while you’re at it, watch the video as well.
Step 1
Grab your old fancy rubber doormat or you can buy it in the nearest store. Then, fill all over its back with silicone adhesive, make sure that you cover every curve and area because you want them to attach flatly onto the bin. Make sure that your old trash bin is nice and clean, then attach the rubber doormat onto its body tightly, grab some clippers or cable holders to clip each side at the bin’s rim. Tie a plastic straw rope around the area of the bin’s body with the rubber doormat to hold it in place more securely. Leave it to dry completely, follow the specific adhesive instructions for an accurate drying time.

Step 2
Drill several holes at the bottom of the bin so that the water can drain, remove the clip and ropes tied around the bin, then spray paint it with black. Now, grab the lid of the bin and close its flap or top with duct tape, flip it and fill the inside with silicone adhesive, right where you applied the duct tape. Spread and smudge the adhesive with your fingers, then let it dry completely. Drill several holes at the top of the lid, then spray paint the inside as well as the outside with black. Fill the lid with soil, then transfer and replant your flowers or plants. Place a large stone inside the bin for some weight, then place the lid on top of the bin.
