This DIY Fabric Flower is the ultimate scrap buster! You can make them to put on top of existing projects or to decorate just about anything, I made about 20 when I first saw this excellent video on Youtube. To get started you only need a few materials, below are instructions for one flower, of course, you can make as many as you want.

Materials:
One fabric strip (4″ x 38″)
Scissors
A needle
One circle of felt backing
A fabric marker (or felt tipped pen)
Hot Glue Gun
Glue Sticks
Thread
Directions:
Take your threaded needle and begin to sew your fabric strip as you gently fold it in half as you sew along using a loose straight stitch. You need it fairly loose because you will be pulling it taught to bunch up the petals in your beautiful flower.
When you finish stitching the entire length of your 38 inch long fabric scrap you then gently start pulling on the ends of your thread to bunch up your flower to make petals.
Then you cut out your felt backing (any ordinary craft felt will be fine) and draw a spiral shape inside it with your fabric marker or felt tipped pen.
Then you just start gluing the ruffled fabric strip around the spiral pattern on your felt backing flower mount with your trusty hot glue gun.
Continue gluing until you get to the end and low and behold, you will have a beautiful flower. I love this scrap busting idea and hope you will too.
