I am a big fan of repurposing items at home. Throwing them into the trash right away is not an option for me, so I always look for ways to reuse them. Last weekend, we baked a cake, and the eggs we used came with a carton. Of course, I didn’t throw them – I made them into these DIY egg carton flowers! This wonderful idea is by Craft Homie on Youtube. I really love this simple art project – you can even do it with the kids!

Materials:

  • egg carton
  • scissors
  • different colors of paint
  • brush
  • cardboard
  • pencil

Instructions:

Step 1:

Remove a cup from the egg carton. Trim off the edges and make it clean using a pair of scissors. Cut the corners, then in the middle of each one. Repeat with the remaining cups.

Step 2:

Curve each one into petals. You can change the size of the flowers for variation. Make some small and big pieces.

Step 3:

Paint each flower with your preferred colors except the bottom so you can easily glue it to the paper. Let them dry completely.

Step 4:

Cut a 3.15″ square cardboard and draw a vase.  Cut it out and paint it with whatever color you prefer. Let it dry and decorate it however you want. You can paint flowers, lines, and curves.

Step 5:

With the leftover carton, cut small leaves and paint them green.

Step 6:

Cut a big rectangular piece on the cardboard and cover it with paper.

Step 7:

Glue the small foam balls on the center of each flower.

Step 8:

Glue the vase on the mid-bottom of the cardboard covered in paper, then cover the edges with the ribbon.

Step 9:

Paint stems using brown paint. Use a pointed brush for this. Next, glue the flowers to the end of the stems using hot glue. Lastly, glue the leaves.
