Decorations play a big part in making you feel the holiday cheer during this Christmas season. So if you want to add a few whimsical Christmas items around your house, this is for you. Heidi Sonboul DIY gives us 5 Christmas decors that we can craft. These Christmas projects are fun to do and will save you a lot of money as you can easily find the supplies at your local dollar store. These projects include a Christmas bell ornament, a bird’s nest, parachute ornaments, a Christmas lantern, and a snowman ornament.
Below are directions for 2 of the 5 projects she showed on her Youtube channel.
Insert your dowel sticks into the bottom of one of the snowman figurines. Cut off an inch of the post before you insert the second snowman. Once they’re in place, secure them with hot glue to ensure that the rod does not slide out.
Cut off the bottom part of the last snowman so that it sits flat. Then, take another stick and insert it on top of its head. Insert the other end of the post into the bottom of the second snowman.
After that, take a piece of foam board. Cut it into 4 by 4 pieces and cut out a hole in the center. This will be the stand for the snowmen. Then, take some mod podge and scatter little snowballs all over the base. To decorate it some more, cut off the ends of the popsicle sticks since you won’t be needing them. Then, place the sticks on the edges of the stand and proceed to secure the crevices with hot glue. Take some glitter and wrap it around the base of your snowman.
Take your jute twine and wrap it twice around the Styrofoam. Then, flip it over and spiral it around the bottom. Do the same to the top part.
After, take your fibers and layer them around the base and at the top of it. Make sure that the Styrofoam on the inside is not visible.
Take your figurines and glue them over the fibers. Once they’re on, wrap a ribbon around the bottom. After, it’s up to you to add a bow, as well as other decorations like pinecones and leaves. If you decide to add them, lightly brush them with white paint so they’ll look like they have a bit of snow on them.
And there you have it. Some of the best and quick dollar tree projects to make for Christmas. To learn more go to Heidi Sonboul’s Youtube channel.
