How stunning is this DIY lampshade by Hobby Story? It’s surely a statement piece. I didn’t even believe it was made from bamboo sticks when I first saw it; I thought it was metal from afar! Instructions

Step 1:

Get a PVC pipe and cut 2 pieces of 2-inch rings. Wrap the tape measure around one of the rings and mark every 0.4 inches all the way around. Do the same for the other ring.

Step 2:

Cut about 2 inches from the tips of 4 bamboo sticks.

Step 3:

Make holes at the marks on the ring. You can use a soldering iron, drill, or just a small screwdriver and heat the tip with a candle.

Step 4:

Place a stick between the two rings. Make sure it is aligned with the holes on the top and bottom, then glue it in place. Repeat on three sides of the circle just like in the photo below.

Step 5:

Dip some bamboo sticks in water. This will make them more flexible so you can easily bend them later. Get one of the sticks, gently bend it and insert the end into the holes on the top and bottom rings. Repeat until you covered everything.

Step 6:

Spray paint it black on all sides and let it dry completely.

Step 7:

Cut two pieces of bamboo sticks. They should fit inside the ring as they will act as the support of the frame. Glue one first on the ring, and let it dry completely. Place the bulb socket, then glue the other stick. Make sure that it can hold the bulb socket securely.
