These bottle cap pincushions by Lisa Capen Quilts on YouTube do not require a sewing machine and it’s fast and easy. However, it does require a needle and thread, but it’s simple. I love how she keeps a lot of plastic bottle caps because they can be useful for projects like these. Plus, if you sew, then all of these materials should be already available to you. These are inexpensive pin cushions that are quick to make. I love how cute and small these bottle cap pincushions are, and you can make these for any plastic caps.

Materials:

  • plastic bottle caps
  • needle and thread
  • Poly-Fil
  • hot glue gun
  • scissors
  • lace or ribbon, optional
  • adhesive velcro or double-sided tape, optional
  • multi-surface paint, optional
  • any circular template (that’s an inch bigger on all sides of the bottle cap)

Directions:

First, trace the circle template right on top of the fabric, and cut out the circle. Start off from the inside part of the fabric, then take a needle and thread and do a running stitch on the circle. Gather the fabric up on the needle, and work your way around the circle. Continue to watch Lisa Capen Quilts tutorial on YouTube for full instructions and details.

Next, add glue to the top of the bottle cap and place the cushion right inside. Push it inside the cap and hold it until the glue cools off. Also, you can decorate around the rim of the bottle cap by adding lace for extra decoration.
