I love projects like this! I’ve painted several artsy chairs and they are so much fun to have in your home! Mine are a real conversation piece and everyone that sees them are awestruck when they find out that I painted them. That’s a really great feeling!

If this is your first time painting furniture, this is a great tutorial for getting started. He shows you step by step how he painted this, so take it easy and, remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect to look good! If you look at Mexican artwork, it’s usually never perfect, but that doesn’t take away for the beauty when the whole thing comes together. I think we are our own worst critics when it comes to artwork. I know that I was, so I speak from experience. I found that when I just let go and jumped into it, it always turns out great!

I believe that most of us love bright colored things, but taking it a step further and painting bright colored designs on furniture makes it even more interesting and special. Hand painted furniture can be very expensive and this is an opportunity for you to practice doing your own! You may have an old chair or piece of furniture that you want to try this on. Don’t worry if you make a mistake, you can always wipe it off with a wet rag or sand it off and start again! Practice makes perfect (or so they say)! If you don’t have any old furniture, then go to a thrift store. You can find them cheap there. I’ve actually found chairs that were left by the dumpster at the condos where I live…that’s even better!

Watch how Marco Montiel paints this chair in his step by step tutorial so you can get busy making one for your home! You may be like me and paint more than one! It’s fun!
