Paint the vase with black spray paint. Once dry, using a paper towel, spread the brown dixie belle mud into the vase. First, spread it horizontally in a light layer. Then dab the mud into the top for a more random and abstract texture. Let it dry. Next, dab the chalk paint in random spots using a damp paper towel. Put darker shade along the base as this will give the appearance that it’s been in the dirt for years. Once dry, seal with a matte clear sealer. Place the dry reeds.

Wear your gloves and spread a thin layer of some joint compound to add texture. Once it dries, it will become white. Next, using your brush and chalk paint, add a base layer to the vase. Let it dry, then dab bits of shades truffle and fawn using a paper towel. Lastly, spray some sealer.

Then using the truffle shade of chalk paint and a small brush, paint the nooks and crannies around the ridges. Next, blend the 3 chalk paint colors into the vase with a paper towel. Let it dry, then pat some pixie mud on the planter.
