Pinwheels are adorable, as they are, but this pattern is much more interesting and eye-catching. You have a pinwheel in the center and four extra pinwheels surrounding it.

Take one background and one colored square. Place them right sides together, then sew all the way around the edge of the square with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Once done, cut diagonally in both directions from corner to corner. Press the half-square triangles open.
Arrange the four squares in a pinwheel just like in the photo below. Sew them in pairs first, then sew the two together to make the block. Make sure the points align. Press the block flat.
From the center seam, measure 2 1/8 inches then cut. Repeat on all sides.
Rotate the bar blocks so the colors are facing outward. Then rotate the corner block just like in the photo below. Sew them in rows first. Once done, sew them together to make the block.
You need 7 rows with 6 blocks each.
