It might be intimidating at first look but do not worry, as Jenny Doan will teach you the step-by-step instructions. This is still an easy project that beginners can try to make, but it might take more time to finish since you will create two patterns to make one block. Both of the two small blocks are made with half-square triangles and squares, so they are still beginner-friendly.
It takes more effort to make this quilt, but you will feel proud once you finish this project. It is absolutely worth making and you will surely receive a lot of compliments from your friends and family once you are done.
Take one 5″ print square and one 5″ printed square. Place them right sides together, then draw a diagonal line from corner to corner. Sew a 1/4″ away from the line on both sides. Cut in half directly on the line. Press it open with the dark fabric on top. Trim the squares if needed. Repeat with the other squares.
Take four of the half-square triangles and sew them just like in the photo below. You need four of this block for each of the big blocks.
Repeat step 1 with a 5″ gray square and 5″ white square to make half-square triangles. Get a 4 1/2″ printed square and gray square. Arrange the half-square triangles and squares in a block just like in the photo below. Sew into a block. You need four pieces of this block. Press it open.
For the center square, you need to cut a 8 1/2″ gray square. Arrange the blocks just like in the photo on the top. Sew them together to make a 24 inch block.
