This crockpot Lil smokies casserole recipe by Catherine’s Plates on YouTube mimics the flavor of a homemade sloppy joe mixed with beanie weenie. It’s a hearty dish that has a lot of components of a chili. It would be a comforting warm dish to have during cold days. I love these type of crockpot recipes where I can have leftovers for the week and warm them back up in a bowl. It’s an easy way to prep a large batch without having to do a lot of work. It’s perfect for those that love a meaty and filling meal that may keep you satisfied for a couple of hours because it has beans. The addition of the Lil smokies adds a nice touch to the rest of the ingredients.
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp cooking oil
- 1 lb Ground Beef
- 1 yellow onion, chopped
- 2 green bell pepper, chopped (or any color or variety)
- 2 (15 oz) can pork & beans or baked beans
- 1 (24 oz) pkg beef Lil smokies
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp yellow or dijon mustard
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
Directions:
First, prepare and chop all of the veggies. In a large skillet with cooking oil, place on the stove over medium-high heat. Brown the ground beef and onions then drain any excess grease. Place the cooked mixture into the bottom of the crockpot.

Next, add the rest of the ingredients into the crockpot, and mix well. Place the lid on the crockpot and cook on high for 4-5 hours or on low for 6-8 hours.
Overall, I love Lil smokies, but I’ve never had it in a casserole form. I think the combination of ingredients is interesting and reminds me of a different version of chili. It would be perfect to serve in the winter cold days.
