One important step when making beef stew is searing the meat. Not only does it make the meat crispy and appetizing, but it also locks in the juices of the meat, which makes every bite flavorful. Red wine is also highly recommended since it tenderizes the meat and balances the flavor, but it is optional. Serve it with mashed potatoes, dinner rolls, mac and cheese, green beans, or rice.

Easy Creamy Beef Stew Ingredients

  • 5 to 6 lbs of beef chuck
  • oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • onion powder
  • garlic powder
  • paprika
  • All-purpose chicken seasoning
  • 2 celery stalks (diced)
  • 1 medium onion (diced)
  • 5 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup of red wine
  • 6 cups of beef broth
  • 10.5 oz can Campbell mushroom condensed soup
  • 1 pack onion soup mix
  • 2 sprigs of fresh thyme or 1 teaspoon of dried
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 8 small red potatoes (cut in half)

How to Make Creamy Beef Stew

Step 1:

Start by cutting the beef into chunks. Try to cut them the same size as possible. Drizzle a little bit of oil and mix to distribute. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, all-purpose chicken seasoning, and paprika. Mix until well-coated.

Step 2:

Place a skillet over heat and add cooking oil. Once hot, add the seasoned meat and sear until browned on all sides. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan. Work in batches if needed. Add more oil if needed.

Next, pour the beef broth and the mushroom condensed soup. Mix until well combined. Stir in the onion soup mix.

Step 4:

Gently add the seared beef including the juices. Lower the heat to medium. Cover with the lid and cook until the beef is semi-tender. Check it every 10 to 15 minutes to make sure it has enough liquid. Stir occasionally.
