All the ingredients are really fresh and the whole cake is made from scratch, and the delicious meringue buttercream filling is so excellent. In fact, this recipe is like a Ding Dong with all wonderful healthy ingredients and no artificial anything.

Ingredients For Copycat Dong Dong Cake:

For The Cake:

  • 630 grams of all-purpose flour
  • 1200 grams of granulated sugar
  • 250 grams of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 6 teaspoons of baking soda
  • 3 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 3 teaspoons of salt
  • 620 ml. of buttermilk (room temperature)
  • 340 ml. of oil
  • 6 extra-large eggs
  • 6 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 500 ml. freshly brewed hot coffee

For The Meringue Filling:

  • 8 egg whites
  • 300 grams of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 500 grams of soft butter (room temperature)

For Chocolate Ganache:

  • 600 grams of dark chocolate
  • 600 ml of double cream
