This DIY project certainly took me by surprise! When I ran across it, I knew it was something I just had to share with you all!

So, my story is that I had a great lampshade and my cat put his claws in it and they got stuck, ripping my shade! Therefore, something had to be done to the torn lamp shade.

Then I stumbled onto this tutorial. After watching it, I knew that I had to put chicken wire on my lampshade! A found a roll at Home Depot. The lady working there gave me a really strange look when I said I needed it for a lampshade!

As soon as I got home, I started wrapping the shade with chicken wire. I used small pieces of wire to attach the chicken wire to the frame. Just a heads up, when you do anything with chicken wire, wear gloves!

I couldn’t leave it plain after seeing some of these on Pinterest with rolled flowers, so I made different fabric and felt flowers of my own.  I used vintage earrings for the centers of two of the flowers. I attached the flowers to the shade with hot glue by sandwiching the chicken wire between the flowers on the outside and felt on the inside. It’s also great for attaching reminders, quotes and affirmations and jewelry. Whatever you prefer…the flowers are quite charming!
