Ingredients:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 lb yukon gold potatoes
  • 1/4 lb gruyere cheese, grated
  • 1/4 lb parmigiano reggiano cheese, grated
  • 3 cloves of garlic, pressed or minced
  • 10 sprigs of fresh thyme
  • 2 tsp salt
  • black pepper

Directions:

Step 1

In a bowl, combine 1 cup of heavy cream and 1 cup of milk. Thinly slice the potatoes and place them into the milk mixture. Next, grate your cheeses, then add them to the sliced potatoes. Add 3 cloves of minced garlic, 10 sprigs of fresh thyme, 2 tsp salt, and freshly cracked black pepper. Mix all together to incorporate the ingredients.

Step 2

Dump the potatoes into your baking dish and arrange them evenly. Place the baking dish on a sheet pan and cover it tightly with aluminum foil. Place it in the oven at 400 degrees F and bake for one hour. Remove the foil from the pan after one hour and place it back in the oven and bake for another 30 minutes.
