They are fruits on a stick coated with sugar syrup. Once the sugar sets, the outside becomes very crunchy. The sweet taste of the shell is perfect with the tart flavors of the fruit, making these candies addicting.

Easy Candied Fruit Ingredients

  • strawberries
  • grapes
  • tangerine
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar

 

How to Make Candied Fruit

Step 1:

Thoroughly wash the strawberries and grapes then dry them. Pell the skin of the tangerines, then cut the top part of the strawberries. Insert the fruits into the sticks and set them aside.

Step 2:

In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, add the sugar and water. Mix well then place over medium low heat.

Step 3:

Bring the mixture to a boil and cook until a candy thermometer reads 300F. If you don’t have a thermometer, wait until it starts to turn light amber, then do the water test. Get a small spoonful of syrup and drop into the cold water. t should form brittle threads and easily cracks and snaps.

Step 4:

Remove the candy mixture from heat. Dip the fruits into the mixture, then swirl to coat well.

To coat them properly, wear some gloves and tilt the pan with your hand, then use your other hand to swirl the sticks.

Step 5:

Place the coated fruits in a baking sheet lined with a cookie sheet. Allow them to cool until the candy has fully hardened. Enjoy!
