If you’re looking for recommendations on what project to start with if you’re new to quilting, I suggest this building blocks quilt from Missouri Star on Youtube. It’s the perfect beginner quilt that is both easy and has a lot of options. You can make this scrappy or modern; it’s up to you. Watch the video tutorial below to learn how to make this.
Take all of your squares and layer about four at a time, making sure they are lined up well. Take your ruler and cut a 2 & 1/2″ strip off the edge. Turn your square and cut a 2 & 1/2″ strip off the top. Do this to your whole pack. Next, take the 7 & 1/2″ squares, mix them up, and sew the borders back on. (You want those borders to be scrappy and stand out so mix up the borders also.) Lay those right together and sew with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Press it afterward, then add the side piece. Lay them again right sides together and sew a 1/4″ seam allowance. Press it also afterward and trim the excess fabric.

Now, lay the blocks down right next to each other, making sure that your fabric has good contrast when you set them together. You’re going to have six across seven rows (6 x 7). After arranging your squares, sew the squares together.
