Brilliant Last Binding Join For Your Quilt

This is definitely a brilliant last binding join for your quilt. I never knew about this technique until I stumbled across MerryMabelMarket‘s tutorial on YouTube. It was easy to follow, and it turned out flat and perfect. It looks like it doesn’t even end anywhere! Step 1:

Press the bottom binding to make an X (you will see it once you open it). Bring the top binding down, fold as closely to the bottom binding, leave an 1/8″ in between, and press again making an X on both sides, which you are going to line up. Get rid of the excess of your backing.

Step 2:

Pull the top binding open without turning it and line it up so you can see the X. Now put the bottom binding over the top of the other binding and line up the X across. The lines should match each other. Don’t flip or turn, just open it up straight.

Step 3:

Take it to the sewing machine and check if the lines are still aligned. Make sure nothing is twisted. Sew diagonally from top to bottom, right through the middle of the X. Don’t cut the excess right away – test it first! Open it up and see if it’s perfect. If it’s looking great, take your scissors and trim the excess. Press the seams open and fold the binding. As you bind, be sure not to pull or distort anything.
