Would you believe that this gorgeous quilt is made out of simple blocks? Yes, it is! This bowtie quilt block by Missouri Star is one of the easiest blocks that you can make at home. The design looks complicated when you look at it from afar, but if you look closely, you will realize how simple it is. It is so fun to make – you have to try it.

You only need one colored square and one background square for each block. Although I said the quilt was easy to make, it will take you more time to finish since it requires a ton of this small block. There are plenty of beautiful patterns you can create with it. The quilt above is just one of those.

For each charm square, you need to cut two pieces of 2 1/2″ squares and two pieces of 1 1/2″ squares. For the background square, cut four 2 1/2″ squares.
Take 2 pieces of 2 1/2″ background squares and place a 1 1/2″ square on one corner of each square. Sew diagonally from corner to corner. Trim excess 1/4″ away from the seam, then press open.
Arrange the squares just like in the photo below. Sew them in pairs first with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Press them open. Next, sew them together to make the block. Press it open.
