Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf (16 oz) brioche, sliced into cubes
  • 2 half pints (6 oz) blueberries

Custard:

  • 2 blocks (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 eggs, room temp
  • 2 cups half and half, room temp
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp lemon zest
  • 1/4 tsp salt

For Serving (pick one):

  • blueberry sauce
  • berry syrup
  • maple syrup
  • strawberry syrup

Directions:

Step 1

Add 2 blocks of softened cream cheese and 1 1/4 cup granulated sugar in a bowl and whisk using an electric mixer. After this, add six eggs and continue whisking until fully combined. Next, add 2 cups half and half, 1 tbsp vanilla extract, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 2 tsp lemon zest, and 1/4 tsp salt. Whisk everything until combined. Set aside.

Step 2

Lay half of the sliced brioche load into a casserole dish, then add half of the blueberries. Next, pour half of the custard mixture, then add another layer of the sliced brioche, blueberries, then the rest of the custard mixture. Cover it with foil and refrigerate overnight. When ready to bake, place it in a preheated 350 degrees F oven for 30 minutes covered, then remove the foil and continue to bake for another 15 to 25 minutes. Serve it with the topping of your choice! (See recommended toppings in the recipe above).
