Want to add a statement piece to your living room? Put this big chunky braided pillow on your sofa or chair! I love how it adds texture and volume to a space. I am sure you’ll have fun making this DIY project by CRAFTS and DIY by Aija. It’s inexpensive, easy, and just lovely.

Materials

  • pillow
  • big yarn
  • pins
  • scissors
  • needle and thread

Note: use a thread that has the same color as your yarn.

Instructions

Step 1:

Get the pillow and the end of the yarn. Pin it to one end of the pillow, then across the other end. Wrap the yarn around and repeat. Do the same process until you cover the whole pillow. Once done, cut the excess but make sure there is a small allowance.

Step 2:

Rotate the pillow so the yarn is in a horizontal position. Get the end of the yarn and insert it alternately on the loop. Once done, flip the pillow to the other side and do the same. Push the yarn as closely to the side.

Step 3:

For the next row, just do the same, but make sure that it’s alternated with the first row. Repeat the process until you reach the other end. Adjust each of the rows, making sure they are tight.

Step 4:

Once you reach the end and the pillow has been fully covered, cut the yarn leaving a small allowance. Pull the filler inside and cut it without cutting the fabric. Fold the end and sew. Insert it on the end loop, and sew with a needle and thread. Repeat with the other end.
