This crispy fried shrimp recipe by Island Vibe Cooking on YouTube is a Popeyes copycat recipe but better. It has a crispy batter that is very simple to make. This is such a great tutorial because the instructions are thorough and there are some good tips to keep in mind for other recipes. For example, when she breads the shrimp, she adds it into a container and places the lid back on to shake. I don’t know why I’ve never thought about that idea, but this would work for chicken tenders as well. A lot of recipes dredges the protein with their hands, but this method keeps your fingers clean.

  • 10 oz red Argentine shrimp
  • 1/3 cup mustard
  • 3 tbsp corn starch
  • 1/3 red hot sauce
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp creole seasoning
  • 1 tsp old bay
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 large eggs

First, place the peeled shrimp into a large mixing bowl. Then, add hot sauce, mustard, and eggs. Mix well. Add the dry seasoning and stir. Cover the bowl with saran wrap and let it sit for 10 minutes. You can place it in the fridge or counter. Continue to watch Island Vibe Cooking tutorial on YouTube for full instructions and details.
