Easy Jambalaya Ingredients
- 10 to 15 large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
- 1 cup of celery (diced)
- 1 cup of green bell pepper (diced)
- 1 cup of onion (diced)
- andouille sausage (sliced)
- 1 teaspoon of oregano
- 1 teaspoon of basil
- 1 tablespoon of thyme
- 1 teaspoon of garlic
- 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon of cajun seasoning
- 1 tablespoon of creole seasoning
- 2 bay leaf
- 2 cups of jasmine rice (rinsed)
- 3 cups of low-sodium chicken broth
- 3 tablespoons of tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon of minced garlic
- 14 ounces of diced tomato
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
How to Make Jambalaya
Step 1:
Add the shrimp to a bowl and season with cajun seasoning. Gently mix to combine.
Step 2:
Place a saucepan over heat and drizzle 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Once hot, add the andouille sausage. Cook until golden brown on both sides.
Step 3:
In the same pan, add the green bell pepper, celery, and onion. Cook until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
Step 4:
Add the tomato paste and cook for 1 to 2 minutes. Next, add the diced tomatoes and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes over medium-high heat.
Step 5:
Mix in the seasonings, then pour the chicken broth. Stir well. Bring back the andouille sausages and cover. Let it come to a simmer for 10 minutes.
Step 6:
After 10 minutes, add the rinsed rice and stir. Cover and cook for 10 minutes.
Step 7:
Add the shrimp and cover. Cook for another 10 minutes. If you want your jambalaya to be dry, do not cover it too early.
