In a large saucepan, add butter, sugar, dried mixed fruit, glace cherries, cranberries, orange zest and juice, and lemon zest.
Turn the heat to medium and let it come to a gentle bubble. Once bubbling, lower the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove the pan from heat and let it cool for about 30 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 300F and line an 8-inch spring-form round cake tin with parchment paper.
Mix the ground almonds into the slightly cooled fruit mixture, followed by the eggs.
Fold in the flour, baking powder, and spices until just combined.
Spoon the mixture into the prepared tin and smoothen with the back of the spoon.
Place inside the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes. Lower the heat to 275F and cook for 1 to 1.5 hours more or until the top is dark brown and an inserted skewer comes out clean.
Remove from the oven while hot and make about 10 to 12 holes over the cake using a skewer. Pour 4 tablespoons of cherry brandy all over the top.
Let the cake cool in the tin. Once cooled, remove and wrap it in a double layer of parchment paper, then in a double layer of foil. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
