  • 1 teaspoon of dried spring onion (optional)
  • 1/4 cup of heavy cream (adjust how thick you want your mash to be)
  • salt and pepper to taste

Blackening seasoning (for 2 lbs of salmon):

  • 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of basil
  • 1 teaspoon of basil
  • 1 teaspoon of thyme
  • 1 teaspoon of salt

  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder

Instructions:

Step 1:

Combine all blackening seasoning in a small bowl.

Generously season the salmon with the blackening seasoning on all sides. Rub it down to make sure it sticks to the salmon. On the skin side, sprinkle a little bit of salt.

Step 3:

Place the shrimp into a bowl then season with 2 teaspoons of blackening seasoning. Mix everything and then set it aside and let it marinate.

Step 4:

Place a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat then add oil. Once hot, add the salmon skin side down. Cook for about 6 minutes and make sure not to move it during that time. Flip then cook the other side for about 5 minutes. Next, cook the sides for about 2 minutes each. Transfer to a plate.
